Fuji San Japanese Restaurant in Vestal

Came here at 2 in the afternoon, service was fast... too fast. My son and I felt rushed, he brought us our water and asked for our orders without giving us time to even open the menu (but at least it's hibachi and everyone already knows what they want). When the time came, our hibachi food was still cold when it was put on our plates, as in... the egg was cooked then mixed into the cold rice and barely warmed to room temp then put on our plates. The veggies were still literally raw. The meal with tofu was hot on the outside and refrigerator cold in the middle. This is the first and last time we try this place, we'll go back to the tried and true very nice place up the road. The sushi was good though, I always tip well, but the sushi chef definitely earned the extra I gave at this place.

You cannot possibly get a better value for lunch than the combination boxes! For only about 10.50 I was able to get rice, chicken teriyaki, miso soup, salad, gyoza and and an entire California roll! I was absolutely shocked that for that money every was full sized portions and was so delicious! Being new to the area I am glad I was able to find my go to spot for Japanese food so quickly!

Was disapointed in the soft shell crab. Not recommending it. But everything else was good.

The service was great we were welcomed and were seated immediately. The sushi was excellent. They were friendly and the experience was pleasurable.

Place is decent. Clean. Good atmosphere

The food is always cooked to perfection. Much better than Kampai *BY FAR* and great bang for your buck.

Always good food and great service

Very nice set up. The restaurant was very clean and had great floor space for presentation. The sushi chef was unique and the ordering was fast with our food prepared immediately. But the menu was hard to understand and the staff spoke little English. I had to google the options to see if I'd eat it. The portion was huge and very filling. I'd say the experience felt authentic.

Only complaint is they don't have them free refills on the soft drinks. They asked If i wanted a refill. What I didnt know was I was gonna pay a dollar for each refill I got. Drinks for me alone cost 37 dollars that night. I like Dr pepper. Stay safe out there habichi lovers.

Really nice sushi place, and the staff are nice. Sushi is a bit expensive and you'll likely need to order two separate rolls to find it filling, but the quality of everything is fairly high.

My husband and I go here frequently and sit at a table. I have also gone several times with friends and my sister and sat at the hibachi table. Everyone who I have ever taken there has absolutely loved it. The food is so wonderful and reasonably priced. Also, if you sit at the hibachi table and watch the chef, he is funny, very friendly, and puts on a really great performance. I recommend this place to everyone.

Amazing sushi and sashimi, i had about 50$ worth of delicious recipes. Much soul was put into each plate and tasted in every bite. You can tell its a passion. Thank you for dinner. Will be back!!!

I think there short in staff, it was over 15 min to get a waiter,at our table .we ask for shrimp tempura for appetizer and normally they bring 4 shrimp this time they brought out 2 shrimp and 2 pieces of fried squash.Anyway the rest of our meal was ok.

Had a good time at the hibachi good size portions.

Nice place for suchi and habatchi

Great place for sushi, nice large pieces and good variety, not to mention fresh.Sushi chef was pleasent, and clean place.

More of an Americanized takeout place than a real Japanese place.

I used a Groupon w/o a problem! Dined with my SO. Enjoyed the Shrimp app and their Sushi 7 piece Combo. Their house Chardonnay was delicious! Free parking, very convenient location across the street from SUNY on busy Vestal Parkway and exit off I -86 from Binghamton westbound. I wish that they had more sauces for dunking my sushi pieces.You only get Soy! Expect to spend $60.00!

1st time there was on the early side just before 5 no crowd was seated quickly and asked if new what we wanted in the 1st 2 minutes. Food was good might want to consider not using same sauce on everything.

Awesome food and service. The staff is friendly and helpful. When the mood for sushi or some miso soup occurs we know where to go.

We always do a family dinner here for our sons birthday. With 10 of us we had a hibachi to ourselves. A good meal with good service & the entertainment watching the chef cook your meal is always fun. My favorite? The onion volcano!

This place is always awesome especially if you get the crazy funny guys to cook for you here. These guys are really funny and put on a pretty good show. I had one guy launching shrimp at me then he shot his flamming sake down my throat. Not bad. Show and shots!! Winner winner chicken dinner, well steak and shrimp for me but you get my meaning.

This place is a hit or a miss. Staff is not very friendly. Food is ok, nothing special, totally nnot with the cost. I would recomend going else where.

Always a great place to go for a great meal. Fast and quality service. I've never waited once here even on a Friday night at 5pm. Filet and scallop are my favorite.

Do not come here if you're on a time limit or you're starving. I made reservation for 7:30 tonight, and didn't get seated until 8:15. By the time I got my food, I was married with 2 kids and a dog living in a Canadian suburb. I left and there were flying cars everywhere. Betty White's 203rd birthday was the week before. On a serious note, my group and I had to wait a disrespectful amount of time to finally sit and watch the hibachi unfold. The chef and the food were both great though. Please shorten the wait :)

It was terrible. Service was slow and bad. There was a fly in my water and the calamari was extremely rubbery. Definitely frozen not fresh

Johnnie's is a nice quaint bar located in the Quality Inn next to Fuji San Japanese Restaurant. Enjoyed our visit.

We had some sashimi, sushi and tempura. They are all good and service was good, too. I'm Japanese so I have sone amount of expectation and they are pretty good.

Food and service is excellent here.

We sat in a booth for quietness to able to have a more relaxed lunch. I've sat at the hibachi tables many times and the chefs put on a funny, family safe (unless your child is afraid of fire) show. But I really love having the exact same food served to me, without the wait, plus it being less noisy than the hibachi table is, which is great fun for special occasions. And their prices are very reasonably. I was extremely surprised by how low the bill was. And the service, as always, is the best. I recommend this place to everyone.

Like it a lot and it's a beautiful place.

Food was very delicious,vplace was very clean, hibachi was fun to watch. Food was good and plentiful. They have vegetarian options but for meat eaters the meat was very tender. Got to try sake. The chef was very skilled and had a lot of fun showing off. Even though they serve fish there was not a strong fishy odor in the place at all. The only downfall in my opinion is that they serve Coke products and not Pepsi. And I'm going to still give it five Stars.

We use to love going here but our last time there will surely be our last. Portion sizes have decreased tremendously, (certainly not worth what you pay) , we had a dead cockroach on our table and the chef was slow and not good. A family member has a seafood allergy which we told the chef about prior and not once but twice! He didnt keep the meat seperate from the seafood and attempted to still serve them the meat after it had touched the seafood. We had to tell him a 3rd time that he could not eat it after it touched the seafood. They also no longer have a liquor license. I would not reccomend this place!
